Copyright & Licensing
General Guidelines
The material in the songbooks is freely available for teaching purposes. However, if you wish to reproduce lyric sheets, scores or libretto you will need a “Copyright Licence”. If you wish to perform any of the shows or the songs from the shows to an audience you will need to have a “Performance Licence”. This is a lawful requirement.
Reproduction of Lyrics or Musical Scores
- Make photocopies of lyrics or scores
• Create acetates for overhead machines of the lyrics or scores
• Input lyrics onto a computer and display on the interactive whiteboard.
Performance of Musicals
- A Performing Rights licence is required by law if you:
• Wish to perform the musical to an audience.
• Perform the musical to a paying audience – 10% royalties must be paid to the writer: Gareth Withers Melodic Impact 2007
• Perform sections of the script to an audience
Performance of Songs
- A Performing Rights licence is required if you
• Wish to perform any songs to an audience
